Without reverence, we find ourselves:

  • not sharing resources resulting in a few with much and most with little
  • imprisoning those who dissent.
  • with mass shootings and high homicide rates
  • with soaring teenage pregnancy rates
  • with the inability to feel respect for people of ‘lower’ social status
  • with increasing hedonism
  • claiming the majesty of God for our political aims
  • with declining worship participation
  • with increasingly unmoderated wars
  • with declining belief in God and the afterlife.

Without reverence we imagine ourselves to be masters of all, invulnerable, and not in need of others.  This is a blueprint for a life of disappointment and suffering.
